Strategic ownership strategies

Did you miss our Strategic Ownership Strategies class and discussion?

We’ve got you covered.

Watch the full recording to hear expert insights on the structures to protect your real estate holdings, the steps to keep the shields in place, who to call before making a move and how to make smart decisions as an investor.

Recorded live on September 29, 2026 with Anne Skinner of The Skinner Team, real estate tax attorney Matthew Meltzer, 1031 and DST specialist Peter May, and lender Andrew McBryan. The class covers how each ownership structure works, what a transfer into an entity sets off with your lender, your insurance, your title policy and your short-term rental license, and what changes when you sell, gift or pass a property on.

An LLC and a trust do two different jobs. An LLC limits what a lawsuit against one property can reach. A trust decides what happens to that property when you die. A revocable living trust avoids probate but does not shield you from creditors, which is the point most owners have backwards. Many owners end up with both, usually a trust that owns one LLC per property.

If you own property in the high country or elsewhere and you are not certain of the next steps, that is worth an hour of someone’s time. Call or text us at 970-389-6987, or email Team@COMtnRealty.com with the subject line Ownership Strategies Review.

Tell us how many properties you have and how they are held, and we will set up a time to talk further.
